The diameter of a 29" wheel & tire is slightly larger than a 27.5+ wheel & tire. The 29" setup will raise your bottom bracket height. Also the larger wheel steers a little differently than the fatter, smaller diameter tire, but I got both wheel sizes for my boost bike because, as you say, different riding conditions dictate having options. =sBasically, a 29-inch wheel has a far better chance of smoothly navigating rough terrain and maintaining momentum effortlessly. But its not all great news, with such a noticeable improvement in stability, traction and roll-over capability, a 29er is less agile than a 27.5 inch wheel. All other things being equal, lighter is better, although it often comes at a price. All of the wheels we tested were 29 inches in diameter with standard Boost 148 spacing and 15x110 front hubs. Not surprisingly, most of the carbon models we tested weighed less than their alloy counterparts.
